Liverpool ASM 2008

Introduction

The British Pain Society would like to invite all healthcare professionals to attend its 2008 Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM), which will be held in Liverpool at the new Arena and Convention Centre (ACC) Tuesday 15th to Friday 18th April.

Why you should attend:

  • Network with colleagues
  • Raise questions, partake in debates and discuss outcomes
  • Meet with poster exhibitors and discuss their research
  • Meet with technical exhibitors and hear about their products and services
  • Discuss your own research

The multidisciplinary nature of the Society is pivotal to the continuing success of its Annual Scientific Meeting, which has attracted an average of over 1,000 healthcare professionals to its previous five Meetings. This multidisciplinary nature is reflected throughout the scientific programme, with lecture, workshop and seminar topics chosen specifically to be of interest to all participants, whatever their specialty.

Those of you who regularly attend our meeting have become accustomed to a high quality of international and national speakers; 2008 is no exception. We are delighted to have secured a distinguished faculty from Canada, the US, Europe and, of course, from within the UK.

The plenary lectures have been carefully selected to be of interest to all persons who have an interest in pain management, whatever their specialty. To balance this, the smaller parallel workshops give participants the opportunity to choose from a variety of multidisciplinary topics that further reflects their discipline, allowing an in-depth approach to the topics; the emphasis here lies on audience participation and an interactive exchange of ideas.

Outside of the scientific programme, participants may view the poster exhibition, visit the technical exhibition, attend sponsored satellite meetings or join in the social programme, all of which run alongside the Meeting to create an informative and enjoyable environment for al participants.

All participants are encouraged to submit a poster abstract. The five best abstracts will be invited to present their work during the Prize Paper Presentation session. Participants will be able to view the poster exhibition at any time throughout the meeting.

The technical exhibition continues to grow year on year and we are looking forward to welcoming colleagues from industry, once again. This is an important part of the meeting, and we encourage participants to visit the exhibition during the coffee and lunch breaks.

Four sponsored satellite meetings will run alongside the meeting this year. We are delighted to announce that Napp Pharmaceuticals, Pfizer Ltd, Grünenthal and ProStrakan Group plc will be holding meetings during this year's event. All participants are welcome to attend the sponsored satellite meetings, attendance to which is includ ed in the registration fee.
We look forward to seeing many of you at this year's social programme, either at the Maritime Museum for the Wednesday evening Drinks Reception or at St George's Hall for the Annual Dinner on Thursday evening.

We are sure that this year's meeting will create an informative and enjoyable environment for all participants and look forward to seeing you in Liverpool!
