IASP Global Year Against Acute Pain
October 2010 - 2011

This year is the Global Year against Acute Pain, announced by the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) and supported by the British Pain Society.

During this Global Year against Acute Pain we plan to ensure that:

  • the awareness of acute pain is raised across the Trust;
  • education about pain management is a priority for students in all health professions;
  • inpatient pain doctors and nurses provide more pain education and support to non-pain specialists in the Trust through teaching and intranet resources;
  • ward nurses and doctors are proactive in asking about pain and prompt in its treatment; and
  • patients speak up and expect better

Factsheets, provided by IASP on the theme of Acute Pain, can be found on the IASP website.
