Strategy 2025 - 2030

BPS Strategy 2025–2030

Together, we will do more for pain.

Welcome to the home of the British Pain Society’s Strategy for 2025–2030. This is more than a plan - it’s a shared commitment to transform pain care across the UK through collaboration, innovation, and lived experience.

Why this strategy matters

Pain affects millions across the UK. As healthcare evolves, so must we. Our new strategy responds to the changing needs of people living with pain, the professionals who support them, and the systems that deliver care.

Our Six Strategic Priorities

We’re focusing on six key areas to drive meaningful change:

  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Bringing together professionals across disciplines to deliver integrated, inclusive care.
  • Education & Training: Expanding learning opportunities for health and care professionals at all career stages.
  • Research: Leading inclusive, impactful research through a UK-wide National Pain Research Network.
  • Quality Improvement: Raising standards in pain services through data-driven insights and shared best practices.
  • Person-Centred Approaches: Empowering people living with pain and ensuring their voices shape everything we do.
  • Support for Professionals: Advocating for the well-being, development, and recognition of those working in pain care.
