About your role

This is an exciting opportunity to join London’s only private healthcare MDT Pain Management Service, working alongside leaders in this field with over 50 years of pain medicine experience within the team.

This post will enable the applicant to develop highly specialised skills in Pain Management within the highly educated multidisciplinary setting, where nursing intervention is required for the care and treatment offered to patients with acute, chronic and cancer pain. The post holder will provide efficient and effective specialised pain management to patients and support the multidisciplinary team and the Lead Nurse to ensure this is carried out to the highest standards. There are opportunities to participate in audit and research projects and access new innovations in this field in line with The London Clinics Strategy and Values.

About you

The post holder must be an RN (1) and is therefore bound by the NMC Code of Professional Conduct for Nurses, Midwives and Health Visitors

Extended Scope Practitioner in Pain Management

Band 8a: Starting Salary: £52,115 to £57,850

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Extended Scope Practitioner in Pain management within Guernsey Therapy Group Ltd (GTG). This will involve working as part of a new community pain team.

The main roles of the post include:

  • Extended Scope Practitioner Physiotherapist for pain management. Working with Pain consultants, Orthopaedic consultants, primary care and other members of the pain MDT.
  • Clinical Specialist in bio-psychosocial approach to pain management.
  • To co-ordinate and support the clinical education and clinical development in GTG’s Musculoskeletal team for complex/ chronic pain conditions.
  • To be able to assist in the development and delivery of the new community pain team.
  • To be an active participant in delivering a variety of pain management programmes in conjunction with other members of the pain team.

You will be expected to be an expert clinician in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients with complex pain referred to the service, work at a level beyond the normal scope of a physiotherapist eg requesting diagnostic imaging.

Advanced Practitioner Physiotherapist in Pain (SOPS078)
Locations: South West Essex
Salary: up to £55,000 depending on experience
Hours: Permanent Full Time/ Part Time

We have developed a new and exciting multidisciplinary community musculoskeletal pain service located in South West Essex. We work alongside 4 secondary care pain clinics in the locality.

Our team comprises Cognitive behavioural Therapists, Advanced Physiotherapy practitioners, Physiotherapists, Rehabilitation Therapists and GPwSI delivering medication management. We have both a fortnightly MDT meeting and a supervision/peer support-mentorship meeting. In addition there is regular in-service training and clinical supervision with the service lead. The service provides offers a 24 hour pain management programme delivered off site in a large gym complex with opportunities for patients to continue their rehabilitation within the community. We work closely with many other agencies and are currently further developing our service to include a dedicated fibromyalgia service and a community patient support group.

We are looking  to welcome enthusiastic and innovative clinicians to join our friendly team and expand our skill mix.

We are recruiting for motivated APP’s who are specialists in Pain and are passionate about the consistent delivery of quality clinical management of musculoskeletal conditions for the patients presenting to our MSK services. We are looking for generalist APP’s or those with a specialist interest in Rheumatology, Pain or specific body-parts and skill-sets (e.g. Ultrasonography). We would also be keen to discuss supporting APP’s to develop the above areas of expertise.

You’ll work as a self-sufficient practitioner and deliver a quality clinical service meeting the clinical and commercial needs of the service.

Whilst undertaking comprehensive assessment and diagnosis of patients with a wide variety of physical and emotional needs, you will formulate, deliver, review and progress individual programmes and ensure effective treatment, specialist advice and timely discharge is achieved.

Developing and promoting a positive and dynamic image and culture, you will be key in fostering productive relationships with key stakeholders such as local Consultants and GP’s, and provide support and training to other clinical staff and students.
